The Australian Information Security Association (AISA) held its 2014 Annual National Conference and Awards Dinner this month in Melbourne. The conference was attended by over 900 delegates across two days with a line-up of national and international speakers.
The AISA Awards Dinner, sponsored by The Commonwealth Bank of Australia, celebrated the achievements of information security professionals in five prestigious categories. The individuals and companies were nominated and voted by AISA members and the below are the winners from each of the categories for achievements throughout the previous year:
- Security Rookie of the year: Mr Alex Woerndle (CQR)
- Security Project of the year: Australia Post, Agile Security Development
- Security Employer of the year: Australia Post
- Security Professional of the year: Ms Karen Stones (Bankwest)
- Security Volunteer of the year: Mr Damien Manuel (NAB)
Ms Karen Stones was awarded the AISA Security Professional of the year. In this capacity, Ms Stones was the first female AISA member to win this award. Voted on by her peers, this award reflects Ms Stones’ significant achievements recognizing her professionalism, capability and significant commitment to the security sector.
