Macquarie Technology Group has announced a senior leadership transition, appointing long-serving executive Luke Clifton as a Director of Macquarie Technology Operations Pty Ltd, alongside the appointment of Marija Harris as Group Executive, Macquarie Telecom.
The changes come as the ASX-listed company continues to expand across telecommunications, cloud, cybersecurity and data centre services.
Clifton, who has spent nearly 15 years in senior leadership roles at Macquarie, including more than a decade leading Macquarie Telecom, will transition into a governance-focused role while supporting the business through a structured handover. His appointment as Director is intended to retain institutional knowledge as the group scales its operations.
During his tenure, Clifton played a key role in shaping Macquarie’s SD-WAN strategy, expanding its cybersecurity and cloud capabilities, and developing partnerships with vendors including VeloCloud, Fortinet and Netskope.
Macquarie Technology co-founder and CEO David Tudehope said Clifton had made a significant contribution to the company’s evolution, particularly in positioning it as a challenger brand and strengthening its mid-market offerings across networking, cloud and security.
As part of the leadership transition, Marija Harris will assume the role of Group Executive, Macquarie Telecom, from early 2026. Harris has served as Commercial Director for the past two years and previously held senior roles at Foxtel and Virgin.
Tudehope said Harris brings strong commercial experience and a customer-focused leadership approach that aligns with the company’s growth strategy.
Clifton said his decision reflects a shift toward board and advisory work, while remaining engaged with the business through the Operations Board. In addition to his new role at Macquarie, he will continue as Chair of the Australian Men’s Shed Association, where he is involved in national initiatives focused on community and mental health outcomes.
The company said the leadership changes will be implemented progressively, with ongoing engagement across customers, partners and staff to maintain continuity during the transition period.
