Equinix has appointed former Vocus executive Jarrod Nink as Managing Director for Australia, effective immediately, as the data centre and connectivity sector expands to meet rising demand linked to AI and cloud adoption.
Based in Sydney, Nink will lead the company’s Australian business, overseeing strategy, customer growth and operations, and reporting to Cyrus Adaggra, president for Asia-Pacific at Equinix.
Nink has more than 25 years’ experience across telecommunications and digital infrastructure. Most recently, he served as interim chief executive for enterprise, government, wholesale and infrastructure at Vocus Group. Prior to that, he held chief operating officer and chief executive roles in Vocus’s wholesale and international business, and earlier was chief executive officer of Hue in the UK and held executive positions at Vodafone Australia.
“Jarrod is an exceptional leader with a deep understanding of digital infrastructure and a proven ability to lead complex, high-performance technology businesses,” Adaggra said.
Nink said he was joining at “a pivotal moment” for the industry, citing continued demand for digital infrastructure driven by AI, cloud computing and data-intensive applications.
Equinix said it operates 18 data centres across six Australian metros. The appointment comes amid increasing investment in data centre capacity and related infrastructure as organisations seek compute, storage and connectivity to support AI workloads.
Nink succeeds Guy Danskine, who Equinix said has relocated to the United States to become managing director for West Americas.
