Aspen Medical has implemented Oracle’s Autonomous AI Lakehouse to consolidate data management across its global operations, as the Australian-owned healthcare provider looks to improve operational efficiency and speed up decision-making.

The company said the platform is being used to integrate disparate data and analytics systems and to reduce ongoing maintenance through automation. Aspen Medical also cited lower IT overhead and infrastructure costs following the deployment.

Aspen Medical, founded in 2003, provides clinical and operational services in remote and complex environments. The provider said it was seeking a more cost-efficient and agile IT foundation to support operations and enable faster access to information across its footprint.

According to Aspen Medical Chief Technology and Security Officer Sanja Marais, real-time access to data is critical for the organisation’s ability to respond quickly. Marais said the Oracle platform provides a secure central environment and is intended to support the use of AI capabilities, including generative AI and Oracle’s Select AI tools.

Oracle said its Autonomous AI Lakehouse is designed to reduce manual database administration through self-tuning, autoscaling, self-patching and self-securing functions, allowing customers to run database services with minimal manual oversight.

Aspen Medical said it is also using Oracle APEX AI Application Development within the Autonomous AI Database to build low-code applications, including remote supply-ordering tools and client-facing portals intended to streamline operations in challenging environments.

The project follows Aspen Medical’s earlier implementation of Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, which it said helped consolidate finance and HR processes on a single cloud platform.

For healthcare providers, the announcement highlights continued investment in cloud-based data platforms aimed at consolidating operational and clinical data, while placing increased emphasis on automation and security controls in environments where services may be delivered across multiple sites and jurisdictions.
