Crowne Plaza ahead of the MICE game with innovative social media platform and state-of-the-art AV equipment

Crowne Plaza hotels in Auckland and Queenstown are using state-of-the-art AV equipment and interactive social media platform Shuttlerock to engage conference groups in an innovative and exciting way.

Combining the latest audio visual projection and interactive technology on offer at both properties with the market-leading innovation of Shuttlerock has led to the development of a dedicated landing page for meetings, conventions and business events clients.

Following in the social media savvy footsteps of superstar Lady Gaga and New Zealand owned Kiwibank, IHG is the first hotel group in Australasia to use Shuttlerock.

Shuttlerock enables IHG to interact with and share user-generated content, using the platform to share customer pictures, videos and comments uploaded to social media such as twitter, tumblr, facebook and Instagram.

With the roll-out of the technology in Auckland, Queenstown and Rotorua, IHG is already leading the way in customer engagement and social media innovation in Australasia.

IHG Area Director of Sales and Marketing Franck Hesse said the potential for the MICE market – enabling meeting, conference or incentive group organisers to easily gather a snapshot of the event with a customised Shuttlerock page – was huge.

Conference groups can share comments, videos and images of team building activities, and ‘in the moment’ shots directly with the hotel’s platform, or via relevant hashtags and keywords.

“Can you image conference attendees coming in each morning or at break times to see their photos of the day, off-site activities or team-building moments being featured for all to see via Airmedia on our screens?” he said.

‘It’s a fantastic free value-add, as conference organisers won’t need to arrange a professional photographer to ‘catch the moment’ or heartbeat of a conference.

“With some advance notice, we can fully customise each page with the event’s logo or corporate colours, or otherwise provide all the information required for co-ordinators to set it up themselves.

“This technology will also enable our hotels to directly interact with the conferences, offering ‘Pic of the Day’ spot prizes or rewards, for example, to delegates who take part.”

Each event page can be password protected so it is ‘exclusive’ for the conference, and links can be shared with delegates or businesses when everyone returns to their desks.

“Coupled with our already significant investment in audio visual equipment, ensuring Crowne Plaza Queenstown and Auckland are perfectly placed to ensure conferences run seamlessly, Shuttlerock is another new and innovative feature that keeps us at the forefront of the C&I market,” said Mr Hesse.

“Alongside great service, top locations and the more ‘social’ element provided by the Shuttlerock platform, our clients can enjoy a very successful event.”
