Electro Optic Systems (EOS) has appointed Nicolas Chamussy as Executive Vice President (EVP), Corporate Strategy. He joined EOS in September, reports directly to Chief Executive Officer Dr Andreas Schwer and will initially be based in Europe.

In this role, Chamussy is responsible for shaping and driving EOS’ corporate and marketing strategy, global growth agenda and market expansion priorities. He also leads commercial value creation initiatives, business development, customer insight and experience, and EOS’ business and market intelligence capability.

Dr Andreas Schwer, Chief Executive Officer of EOS, said: “Nicolas has a proven record of scaling defence businesses to meet the demand Europe is now seeing. His leadership across strategy, industrial operations and government relations will be invaluable as EOS grows in Europe and globally, and turns that momentum into long-term value for our customers and shareholders.”

Chamussy is a senior defence and aerospace executive with more than 30 years of experience leading organisations across government, Airbus and KNDS, according to EOS. The company said he managed multi-billion-euro businesses and workforces of up to 5,000 employees.

EOS said that as CEO of KNDS France, Chamussy expanded operations to meet increased global defence demand, delivering revenue growth, improved profitability, production increases and workforce expansion.

EOS said the appointment supports the company’s growth plans, with a particular focus on Europe. The company acquired counter-drone specialist MARSS earlier this year, adding AI-enabled command and control and establishing a European hub in Nice.

In the Netherlands, EOS is delivering a 100 kW high-energy laser weapon under a €71.4 million contract with the Dutch Ministry of Defence. EOS said that in September it signed a letter of intent with the Ministry to take the system into operational service and explore production in the Netherlands.

Chamussy said: “EOS has technology that is proven in the field and a clear opportunity to grow as Europe invests in its defence. I am delighted to join the team and look forward to working with Andreas, our customers and our partners to build on that momentum.”
