ISACA’s CSX Hosts Free Virtual Conference: “Cybersecurity Evolves”

0

The digital world is on a constant continuum of evolution and expansion. To keep pace, enterprises are beginning to put key assets at the centre of their security strategies. Simultaneously, IT and cybersecurity professionals are seeing their roles evolve to include communications and strategizing skills to align with the overall business objectives.

As part of its cybersecurity training and guidance offered to individuals and enterprises, global IT association ISACA is presenting a free virtual conference, “Cybersecurity Evolves: Risk in the Age of Dark Data, IoT and Advanced Analytics,” 21 September 2016, from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EDT (UTC–4).

“Cybersecurity and the state of the digital world overall are fluid and changing continuously. While this is exciting, it can be very threatening, and we need to keep our strategies sharp and our skills even sharper,” said Eddie Schwartz, CISA, CISM, CISSP-ISSEP, PMP, board director of ISACA, chair of ISACA’s Cybersecurity Advisory Council, and president and COO of WhiteOps, Inc. “This virtual conference is a free opportunity to learn new approaches and guidance for cybersecurity in today’s landscape. It is one of the many ways ISACA is helping to build a robust cybersecurity workforce.”

During the event, thousands of attendees will participate in educational sessions, network with peers from around the world, and interact with exhibitors and sponsors in a virtual exhibit hall. Sessions include:

  • “Identifying Compliance Gaps in Mobile, IoT and Non-Traditional End Points” presented by Georgia Weidman, founder and CTO, Shevirah Inc. Weidman will share strategies for security and audit professionals to update their penetration and vulnerability assessment approaches to reflect the reality of mobility.
  • “Will Analytics Save InfoSec?” presented by Johna TILL Johnson, CEO and founder of Nemertes Research. Johnson will help attendees understand how advanced security analytics enables security analysts to filter out the false positives and zero in on the critical actionable events fast enough to take action.
  • “How IoT and New Tech Changes Modern Cybersecurity” presented by Demetrios Lazarikos (Laz), IT security strategist. Laz will share insights from IoT security analytics, tips for understanding new and evolving cybersecurity threats and how to monitor and analyze data in real-time.
  • “I Can Do v. I Have Done—Certification, Experience, and the Information Security Career Path” presented by Kevin Beaver, Principle Logic, LLC. Beaver, author of 12 books, including Hacking for Dummies and The Practical Guide to HIPAA Privacy and Security Compliance, will offer how to address the information security skills gap for both employees looking to get ahead and stand out and employers looking to hire.

Attendees can earn up to five free continuing professional education (CPE) credits for attending the virtual conference. To register, visit www.isaca.org/virtual-conference.

The virtual conference is part of ISACA’s Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX), a holistic resource for cybersecurity training, credentialing and networking. CSX provides practical cybersecurity solutions and guidance, tailored to every level of a security professional’s career.
