NTT DATA has signed a definitive agreement to acquire WinWire, a Microsoft partner focused on agentic AI, AI on Azure, data engineering and cloud-native development.

The deal is positioned by NTT DATA as a move to help enterprise customers move beyond AI pilots and operationalise AI at scale, amid rising demand for AI-enabled cloud transformation. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

NTT DATA said the acquisition will add more than 1,000 Azure engineers and Microsoft specialists to its Global Microsoft Business Unit, including staff with Microsoft Fabric and Azure AI Foundry experience. The company said WinWire brings 770+ Azure certifications, 277 Data & Fabric certifications and 50+ Databricks certifications.

WinWire, headquartered in Santa Clara, California, has delivery centres in India. NTT DATA said WinWire has sector experience in healthcare, life sciences and software and digital platforms, with plans to expand into manufacturing and other sectors.

The companies said WinWire’s “Agentic AI @ Scale framework” will be integrated into NTT DATA’s portfolio. NTT DATA said this will support the design and deployment of autonomous systems embedded into enterprise workflows.

NTT DATA also linked the acquisition to its existing relationship with Microsoft, including its Global Business Unit for Microsoft Cloud, which it said operates across more than 50 countries and is supported by more than 24,000 Microsoft certifications. WinWire is also a member of the Microsoft Agentic Partner Alliance Program, according to the announcement.

“The acquisition of WinWire is a decisive step in advancing our enterprise AI strategy and expanding our leadership in Microsoft Azure and AI-powered cloud transformation,” said Abhijit Dubey, CEO and Chief AI Officer, NTT DATA, Inc. “By combining WinWire’s deep expertise in cloud-native development and agentic AI with NTT DATA’s global scale, this positions us to lead the shift to enterprise AI, enabling clients to move from experimentation to enterprise-wide deployment and achieve meaningful business outcomes.”

WinWire CEO Ashu Goel said the deal will allow WinWire to extend its capabilities to a broader global customer base. Microsoft CVP, Enterprise Partner Solutions Stephen Boyle said the acquisition would strengthen the companies’ ability to co-innovate and deliver solutions for customers deploying AI on Azure.

NTT DATA cited analyst estimates projecting the global AI market could grow from about US$390 billion to nearly US$3.5 trillion over the next decade, as enterprises scale AI deployments.

Rothschild & Co acted as exclusive financial adviser to NTT DATA on the transaction, the companies said.
