Snowflake and OpenAI have entered a multi-year partnership valued at US$200 million to bring enterprise-ready artificial intelligence capabilities directly onto Snowflake’s data platform, as global organisations move to deploy AI at scale under strict security and governance requirements.
Under the agreement, OpenAI’s models will be made natively available to Snowflake’s more than 12,600 customers through Snowflake Cortex AI across all three major cloud environments. OpenAI will serve as one of the primary model providers within Snowflake’s platform, enabling enterprises to build and deploy AI agents and applications directly on governed enterprise data.
The partnership includes joint product development and go-to-market initiatives, with both companies collaborating on customised AI solutions aimed at delivering measurable business outcomes. Snowflake said the collaboration is intended to accelerate adoption of agent-based AI across large enterprises, where reliability, compliance and operational trust remain key considerations.
OpenAI’s latest models, including GPT-5.2, will be accessible within Snowflake Intelligence, the company’s enterprise intelligence agent that allows employees to query, analyse and act on organisational data using natural language. Global customers such as WHOOP are expected to leverage the integrated capabilities to deploy context-aware AI applications across their operations.
Snowflake chief executive Sridhar Ramaswamy (pictured) said the partnership enables organisations to apply advanced AI directly to their most valuable data assets using a secure and governed platform. He said combining Snowflake’s data environment with OpenAI’s models allows enterprises to build AI systems that are powerful while maintaining strong security and compliance standards.
Fidji Simo, chief executive of applications at OpenAI, said the agreement embeds OpenAI’s models into a platform that sits at the centre of enterprise data operations, making it easier for organisations to deploy AI agents and applications at scale.
As part of the partnership, Snowflake and OpenAI will collaborate on new capabilities using OpenAI’s developer tools, including AgentKit and application programming interfaces, to support shared enterprise workflows. The companies said the integration enables enterprises to build interoperable AI agents that can reason over governed data and take action across multiple tools and applications.
Snowflake said its platform provides enterprise-grade reliability, including a 99.99 per cent uptime service-level agreement, alongside governance and responsible AI controls through its Horizon Catalog, supporting the deployment of AI across mission-critical environments.
The agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two companies. OpenAI uses Snowflake as a data platform for analytics and experimentation, while Snowflake has adopted ChatGPT Enterprise internally to support workforce productivity and collaboration.
