Semperis acquires MightyID

Identity security specialist Semperis has acquired cloud identity resilience provider MightyID, extending its coverage across Okta and Ping environments as enterprises contend with increasingly complex hybrid and multi-cloud identity architectures.

The acquisition expands Semperis’ identity-driven cyber resilience and crisis management capabilities beyond Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID to include additional third-party identity providers. Semperis said the move strengthens its ability to help organisations maintain authentication and access continuity during cyber incidents affecting both cloud and on-premises identity systems.

Semperis chief executive Mickey Bresman said the deal reflects a broader shift in how organisations approach cyber defence.

“Effective defence means resilience, not just prevention, so operations can continue even under attack,” Bresman said. “By extending our identity-first approach across additional cloud platforms, we’re helping organisations protect mission-critical access in highly disruptive scenarios.”

MightyID specialises in backup, restore, migration and failover for cloud identity platforms such as Okta and Ping. Its technology is designed to ensure that identity services remain available when primary systems experience outages or are compromised.

Semperis chief product officer Alex Weinert said the acquisition strengthens coverage across what he described as the “identity fabric” — the interconnected mix of identity providers, applications, users, devices and governance tools that underpin modern enterprises.

“When identity systems are this interconnected, an outage or attack in one area can quickly become a business-wide crisis,” Weinert said. “This gives organisations stronger resilience across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, whether identity systems are hosted on-premises or in the cloud.”

Following integration, the combined platform will provide capabilities including continuous exposure management to limit lateral movement from on-premises identity systems into cloud environments, automated remediation of malicious changes, and fast recovery of identity services with built-in fault tolerance.

Semperis said the platform is designed to support incident response teams operating under high-pressure conditions, while helping organisations return to normal operations more quickly after an attack.

MightyID chief operating officer Chris Steinke said the combination addresses a critical risk for organisations that depend on hybrid identity infrastructure.

“Hybrid Active Directory and Entra ID environments underpin the majority of organisations worldwide,” Steinke said. “Bringing together MightyID’s cloud identity protection with Semperis’ full-lifecycle approach ensures organisations can maintain resilience regardless of which identity platforms they use.”

Semperis said the acquisition advances its strategy to deliver comprehensive identity resilience across all major identity providers, as identity systems continue to be a primary target and point of failure in modern cyberattacks.
